They don’t frequent the celebrity hangouts and liaise with the tabloid sleaze of the week. They’re too busy working on crafting their infectious and intelligent songs. Celebrity and pop culture’s excesses have become passe. Jo Webb & The Dirty Hands’ relentless devotion to music is the new Rock N’Roll philosophy. Jo Webb & The Dirty Hands are spearheading a return to form where Pop music stimulates the heart and mind rather than the eyes. Each song delivers a message to the listener in contrast to the abundance of sugar-coated talent show crooner wanabees and the endlessly retro style-over-substance pseudo-art Indie guitar currently on the scene. Influenced by lyricists such as Andy Partridge (XTC), Roger Waters and Frank Zappa, Jo Webb writes hook-driven songs that combines lush vocal harmonies (inspired by The Beatles and The Beach Boys) with twin guitar-solos (a la Iron Maiden & Thin Lizzy), powerhouse drums and bass with new-wave inspired synths (think The Cars & Todd Rundgren). Throw The Dirty Hands’ love for volume into the mix and the result is an explosive and hard hitting contemporary sound. With debut album “Acrobat” set for release in February 2009 on Clean Feet Records, their first UK tour and several festival slots already in the diary, Jo Webb & The Dirty Hands are the band to watch out for in 2009. It’s been a very quiet Xmas here. Spent some time with the family, ate a little too much and had a short break before the busy year ahead.

Acrobat will be avaialble to buy on iTunes next month. We’re looking at a release date of 16th February. More details coming next week.

Greatest Hits (Vol 1) has had almost 6000 downloads in less than a month. Thanks to everyone who’s downloaded and spread the word about the EP. I will be posting the video footage on YouTube next week.

It’s a song about the steady decline of the self important A&R person. The world has moved on around you. You don’t matter anymore.

Written with Dave Marks, this song was the 4th song to be demoed for Greatest Hits (Vol 1). I’m very proud of this one. I especially like the guitar solos - they sound vile.

We’re slowly compiling all of the video footage from the recording sessions and hope to have it up on YouTube within the next couple of weeks.

Inspired and shocked after watching the documentary “Jesus Camp”, it’s about people using religion to further their own agendas and make some money while brainwashing people into fighting immoral wars. It wasn’t intended as an anti-religion song. It’s a songs about manipulation.

This song was written a couple of months ago and it it’s about being very frustrated playing gigs in London. There’s usually at least one other band on the bill who look like something out of 1986, have neither songs or the ability to play an instrument and have egos larger than reality TV contestants.

So here goes, track one is Purple Rain.

It was written by Dave Marks and me about 3 weeks ago. Purple Rain is a slightly ambiguous song. Could be interperated as a song about the US political system or as a relationship break up song. There are faults on both sides.
